Custom Logo Design

Branding for Established Businesses

Put thought into the logo you’ll put on everything.

Get clear on what your business needs to say.

We'll work through your business, customers, and competition, then turn what we learn into a practical strategy and messaging guide you can use across your website and marketing.

Whether you’re starting fresh or updating an existing logo, you want the investment to hold up beyond launch day.

I design original logos with your customers and everyday use in mind. We’ll establish a direction together, explore ideas, and refine the design so you understand what you’re choosing and why.

You’ll work directly with me throughout. You don’t need to arrive with a design in mind.

Do you need a logo, or more than a logo?

A logo helps people identify your business. A visual identity includes the colors, fonts, and other design elements that make your materials recognizable as yours.

My Logo & Visual Identity projects bring those pieces together, with guidance for using them. If your existing identity works and only the logo needs attention, we can discuss a more focused project.

We’ll decide what’s worth keeping and what needs work before agreeing on the scope.

You don’t need to have a logo in mind.

We’ll talk about your customers, look at your competitors, and work out what the design should communicate. Don’t worry if you draw a blank on the questionnaire. We’ll talk it through together.

Visual examples help us explore what fits. I’ll capture the agreed direction in a short creative brief so we both know what we’re working toward before I begin sketching.

What kind of logo fits your business?

Your name might be enough. A symbol, badge, or character might help. We’ll explore what suits your business, your customers, and where the logo needs to work

01.

A distinctive name

Sometimes the name does the work. Carefully chosen or custom lettering can give it character and make it recognizable without adding a separate symbol.

02.

A recognizable symbol

A symbol gives people another way to recognize you. It can sit beside your name or, as people become familiar with it, work on its own.

03.

A badge or emblem

A badge brings the name and other elements into one shape. It can work well on packaging, apparel, or signage, with simpler versions for smaller spaces.

04.

A character with personality

A mascot can give people a character to connect with. It needs to suit your audience and remain recognizable wherever you use it.

You don’t need to choose now. Finding the right approach is part of the work we’ll do together.

From pencil sketches to a finished logo

Explore the ideas.

I present three distinct directions as pencil sketches, explaining the thinking behind each. Keeping them rough helps us concentrate on the ideas before choosing colors or polishing details.

Choose a direction together.

You’ll tell me what feels right and what concerns you. I’ll connect that feedback to the brief, explain the tradeoffs, and recommend a direction to develop.

You don’t need to draw a solution. Your knowledge of the business and your customers is what I need from you.

Recommendation 2

Refine it and see it in use.

I develop the selected direction into finished artwork, adjusting the shape, spacing, and proportions. We’ll look at how it reads at small sizes, works in one color, and appears on relevant materials.

Recommendation 3

Small details can make the lettering your own.

Sometimes a typeface gives us the right starting point. Other times, I’ll alter or redraw letters to improve their shape, spacing, or relationship to the symbol.

Custom lettering is used where it helps the design. I’ll show you what changed and why it matters.

Colors and fonts that work beyond the logo

Your business needs to look consistent when you send a proposal, publish a post, or prepare a presentation. The supporting colors and fonts help make that possible.

See the colors in context.

We’ll explore palettes that support the agreed direction and consider how they work together. You’ll see them applied to relevant materials so you can judge more than a row of swatches.

Know which fonts to use.

Custom lettering in a logo is different from the fonts you use in everyday documents. I’ll select supporting typefaces and show how to use them for headings and longer text.

We’ll discuss font access and any licensing costs before making the final selections.

You’ll know what to do with the finished work.

Your approved logo files will be organized for print and digital use, including editable source files.

Your style guide brings the identity together in a reference you can use yourself or share with your team, printer, or website designer. It shows:

  • Which logo version to use and how much space to leave around it.

  • Your color specifications and supporting fonts.

  • Examples to help keep new materials consistent.

You won’t have to remember every decision or explain the design from scratch whenever someone creates something for your business.

What should you budget?

Logo & Visual Identity projects start at $6,000.

Already have an identity that works and only need the logo updated? We can discuss a more focused project.
